Papillomavirus can live in your home, on commonly shared surfaces and on your pet's items for weeks! It’s totally plausible for a dog with warts to leave the virus behind in a particular area (kennel, dog bed, dog toys) and then for another dog to pick up the virus from that area at a later time.
